I recently had the pleasure of meeting a lovely lady who came to see me about a seborrhoeic keratosis otherwise known as a Seb K that had been sitting just next to her ear for quite some time. It wasn’t painful in any way and is a benign skin blemish, but it had really been affecting how she felt about herself. She told me she’d been wearing her hair a certain way for years, just to try to hide it. When she finally reached out to me, she was ready to do something about it, and I’m so glad she did.

During her consultation, we talked through everything carefully. I carried out a full assessment to make sure I could treat it safely, explained how diathermy works, what she would feel during the procedure, and what to expect afterwards. Together we went over aftercare in detail, including how to look after the area using the solution I provided, and what healing might look like over the following weeks. It’s really important to me that every client feels informed, confident, and reassured before we begin.
The treatment itself went beautifully. She was comfortable throughout, and as the healing process began, she followed her aftercare perfectly. When she returned for her six-week review, the results were just fantastic. The area had healed so well, the skin was smooth, and that Seborrheic Keratosis that had bothered her for so long was finally gone.

The best part for me was noticing that she had her hair cut, something she had avoided for some time because now she no longer felt the need to hide that side of her face. That moment of confidence and freedom is exactly what makes diathermy such a rewarding treatment to perform. It’s not just about removing something, it’s about restoring how someone feels about themselves.
