I love to share my client’s blemish removal journey and this Skin Tag removal one was particularly satisfying for both my client and me.
This gentleman came to me because he wanted to remove two fairly large blemishes on his lower back which were starting to rub and catch on the top of his trousers and become a nuisance to him. In addition, he felt they were unsightly and just wanted them gone.
Although skin tags can be found anywhere on the body, these were the first two I have seen side by side on the lower back like this. I assume they have appeared due to the rubbing of the top of the trousers. My client generally wears jeans, held up with a belt and this type of material can be quite rough on the skin and cause the friction necessary to produce such skin tags. Skin tags can grow surprisingly quickly, many clients who present with slightly larger tags say that they were only small not so long ago and then all of a sudden they are much larger and the urgency to want them removed is there.
Diathermy is a fantastic way of banishing skin tags like this immediately as they can be held away from the skin and cauterised through, instantly removing the tag.
This is a picture taken immediately after removal:
You can see that the skin goes pink around the area of removal which is completely normal and should go down within the first couple of hours following treatment. Sometimes clients will experience a small amount of swelling in the area which is also a natural reaction.
These are the skin tags which have been removed, some clients even like to take them home!:
This picture is 6 weeks post-treatment:
This is exactly what I would expect to see 6 weeks post-treatment of large skin tags. The skin is still healing and should lighten over time leaving only a small footprint of where the skin tags have been.
