Moles in the Eyebrow

Benign Mole in the Eyebrow

Moles in the eyebrows are quite common and usually harmless. While some may embrace them as a unique facial feature, others might find them bothersome or want to remove them for aesthetic or medical reasons. The key is to keep an eye on any mole for changes and consult a dermatologist if needed. If you’re considering removal/reduction then there are safe and effective options that can give you the results you want while preserving the natural brow.

Moles are common skin growths that can appear almost anywhere on the body, including the eyebrow area. While they may seem unusual, moles in or around the eyebrows aren’t as rare as you might think. They can be found in various sizes, shapes, and colors, just like moles on other parts of the body.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting this gentleman who presented a mole on his right eyebrow. As the mole is starting to disrupt how the hair sits, he has decided he would like to get rid of it as is becoming more consious of the way it looks.

This mole has been confirmed as benign and healthy and therefore we carried out an initial consultation and then went ahead with the first treatment. Often moles such as this can be treated effectively in one treatment although at times 2-3 treatments may be required to achieve desired results.

Moles are generally clusters of pigment-producing cells called melanocytes, which can form during childhood, adolescence, or even adulthood. There are several factors that contribute to mole development:

  1. Genetics: If your family members have moles, you’re more likely to develop them, including in your eyebrows.
  2. Sun Exposure: UV radiation from the sun can trigger the growth of moles or darken existing ones. Eyebrows, though somewhat shielded by hair, can still be exposed to harmful UV rays.
  3. Hormonal Changes: Pregnancy, puberty, or hormonal imbalances can cause new moles to appear, including around the eyebrow area.
