Seborrheic Keratosis Removal Before & After

Seborrheic Keratosis Removal Before and After Colchester & Chelmsford

Seborrheic Keratosis removal Before & After:

Seborrheic Keratosis is one of the most sought-after treatments in my clinic and can be life-changing to any person who presents with one or multiple blemishes.

Presenting Concern: Multiple seborrheic keratoses on the neck and chest area, although my client was particularly bothered by one main Seb K just under the collarbone. She described them as unsightly, stopping her from exposing her shoulders as she was self-conscious of this blemish. While seborrheic keratoses are benign and non-cancerous, she sought treatment for cosmetic reasons and to prevent further irritation.

Initial Consultation and Examination

During the initial consultation, the client expressed her concerns about the appearance and irritation caused by the growths. On examination, several raised, wart-like growths characteristic of seborrheic keratosis were noted.

The client reported no significant medical history and no previous treatment for the condition. The growths had developed over the last 10 years, increasing in both size and number.

Treatment Option: Diathermy (Electrocautery)

After discussing various removal methods, including cryotherapy (freezing) , my client opted for diathermy (electrocautery). This method was chosen for its precision, minimal bleeding, and effective removal of the Seb K without damaging the surrounding skin.

Advantages of electrocautery:

  • Provides controlled removal of the keratosis with minimal risk to surrounding tissue.
  • Results in less scarring compared to other methods, particularly important for facial treatment.
  • Seals blood vessels during the procedure, reducing post-treatment bleeding and infection risk.

Post-Procedure Care
Once the keratoses were removed, the treated area was gently cleaned, and an Antimicobial was applied to promote healing. I asked my client to avoid saunas, swimming pools, hot tubs, hot baths and hot showers for the first 3 days just to allow intial healing. I gave my clinet an antimicrobial to apply morning and evening along with some aloe vera to promote healing and sooth the area.

Results and Follow-Up

Immediate Results:
The treatment was completed without complications, and the client reported minimal discomfort throughout the procedure. The areas where the seborrheic keratoses were removed appeared slightly red, with small scabs forming over the next 24 hours, which is a normal part of the healing process. You can see below the before, immediately after and 8 weeks post treament images which shows a fantastic result.

Follow-Up Visit:
A follow-up appointment was scheduled 8 weeks after the procedure. By this time, the scabs had fallen off naturally, and the skin underneath was smooth and healing well. There was no significant scarring, and the client was pleased with the cosmetic outcome, noting that the removal of the seborrheic keratoses improved both her appearance and confidence.

The client reported no post-treatment complications such as infection or excessive scarring. She was particularly happy with how well the procedure addressed the larger keratoses on her collarbone, which had been prone to irritation from clothing.
