What Is Involved in a Consultation?
It’s crucial to understand the importance of a consultation and why it is carried out prior to any treatment taking place.
I always ensure we have plenty of time for this and generally a consultation will take around 45 minutes. I will ask you to complete a form once you arrive which outlines your personal details and medical history.
We will then discuss this in more detail so I can get to know more about you, this includes any medical conditions or medication you may be taking including lifestyle and outside influences so I can be sure you would be suitable for treatment and able to follow the aftercare. It could be that you work outside alot or you are due to go on holiday and therefore the treatment needs to decided upon in terms of timing etc.
We will discuss the blemish/s that are concerning you and the reason in which you want to have it/they removed or reduced and the history behind how and when they appeared.
I will take you through a number of questions to understand whether you have had any such treatment before, what you may use on your skin and allergies that you may have.
We will discuss the treatment and how it works, the healing process and the aftercare. I will ensure I answer any further questions you may have.
Once all the above has been discussed and you are happy to proceed, I will take a look at the blemish/s and discuss a treatment plan, budget and timings with outcomes and aftercare for that paticular blemish.
I will then skin test the blemish so for instance if you have a number of skin tags around the neck, I will remove one of these. This will allow you to see how the treatment feels and for myself how the skin reacts to treatment. I will ask you to then follow the verbal and written aftercare and use of the aftercare product given and return within a number of weeks so we can check how it has healed and proceed with treatment if all is OK.
