Whatever it is and wherever it sits, you would feel so much better if it was simply gone. If that sounds familiar, you are in exactly the right place. I’m Amy Gordon, and advanced blemish removal & skin rejuvenation is all I do. I have been treating skin tags, moles, warts, milia, blood spots and a wide range of other blemishes for over 25 years, working from my private clinics in Colchester and Chelmsford. This is not a side treatment I offer alongside other services. It is my specialism, and I treat every client with the same care I would want for myself.

Why the right practitioner matters

Before treating any blemish, it needs a proper assessment. Not everything that looks like a harmless skin growth is one, and some lesions need a very different response from removal. This is why choosing a trained, accredited specialist matters. I am MASCED accredited (Melanoma and Skin Cancer Early Detection trained), which means I am specifically trained to assess lesions and identify anything that warrants further investigation before any treatment takes place. If I see something I am not comfortable with during your assessment, I work alongside consultant dermatologist Dr Toby Nelson to make sure you get the right care. This level of clinical assessment is not something every clinic offering blemish removal can provide, and it is one of the most important reasons to choose a specialist.

Blemishes I treat

I treat a wide range of benign skin blemishes using advanced diathermy at my Colchester and Chelmsford clinics. The conditions I work with include: Skin tags, moles, warts, verrucas, milia, blood spots (cherry angiomas), facial thread veins, seborrhoeic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia, xanthelasma and dermatosis papulosa nigra. If you are unsure what you have, you do not need to work that out before you come in. I will assess any growth or lesion and tell you exactly what we are looking at before anything is discussed further.

What to expect at your appointment

Your appointment begins with a thorough visual assessment. I will look at the blemish in detail, its shape, colour, size and the surrounding skin, and confirm that what we are dealing with is suitable for removal. In the vast majority of cases of singular blemishes, I can proceed with treatment in the same visit. All treatment is carried out using advanced diathermy, a precise, fine electrical current applied directly to the blemish. The technique varies slightly depending on what is being treated, but the principle is the same: targeted, controlled treatment with minimal impact on the surrounding skin. Most clients are surprised by how quick and manageable the process is. After treatment, I will walk you through your aftercare in detail before you leave. It is straightforward, and most clients return to their normal routine the same day. Your six to eight week follow-up appointment is included at no extra cost, so I can check the skin has healed well and answer any questions you have along the way.

What is advanced blemish removal?

Advanced blemish removal is the use of specialist techniques to safely remove benign skin blemishes that cannot be treated with standard beauty or skincare treatments. I use advanced diathermy, a precise electrical current, to treat a wide range of conditions including skin tags, moles, warts, milia, blood spots and more. How do I know if my blemish can be treated?

The best way to find out is to come in for an assessment. You do not need to know what the blemish is before you book. I will assess it thoroughly and tell you exactly what we are looking at before any treatment is discussed. If it is something that needs further investigation rather than removal, I will tell you and make sure you are referred through the right channels.

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as a brief warmth or mild stinging during treatment. It is very well tolerated and the process is over quickly. The experience varies slightly depending on what is being treated and where, and I will always talk you through what to expect at your appointment before anything takes place.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on what is being treated. Many blemishes respond fully in a single session. Others, particularly larger, multiple or more complex ones, may benefit from more than one treatment. I will give you a clear and honest indication at your assessment.

Will I be left with a scar?

Diathermy is a very precise technique and the risk of scarring is low. The likely outcome for your specific skin will be discussed at your appointment, and I will always give you a realistic expectation rather than an optimistic one.

Can blemishes be treated anywhere on the face or body?

Yes. I regularly treat blemishes across the face and body, including sensitive areas that require particular care. The precision of diathermy makes it well suited to a wide range of locations.

How soon can I be seen?

Are there any reasons I might not be suitable for treatment?

There are some contraindications to treatment including pregnancy, certain medical conditions, and active skin infections in the treatment area. I will discuss your full medical history during your consultation and let you know if there is anything that affects your suitability.
