Homecare following your treatment

Seborrheic Keratosis Colchester & Chelmsford

Homecare following your treatment

Following any diathermy treatment it is essential you follow the aftercare in order to achieve the best results, avoid infection and achieve speedy healing.

Following your intial consultation and skin test you will be given an aftercare leaflet and an aftercare product to apply for up to 72 hours following treatment and of course during the consultation we will discuss all of the aftercare to follow and answer any questions you may have.

  1. The area treated must not be touched. Under no circumstances should the crust or scabs that develop be picked. You should treat the area as if it was a burn with all the same care and consideration.
  2. The correct aftercare product should be applied regulary with a clean cotton bud or pad morning and night for at least 48 hours or until the skin has fully healed.
  3. The treated area can be washed or cleansed after 48 hours using a very gentle soap or cleanser. The area should be left to dry naturally or patted dry with paper tissues (not towel) to avoid lifting any crusting.
  4. Avoid the use of cosmetics in the treated area until fully healed.
  5. Avoid activities that cause sweating or dilation of the the vessels (e.g exercise, hot food, alcohol) for at least 48 hours after treatment.
  6. Do not fly for at least 48 hours following treatment.
  7. Stay out of UV light as much as possible, cover up and wear a sunhat for at least 48 hours after treatment, Suncreen should also be used.
  8. Do not swim, have a sauna or jacuzzi for at least 48 hours.
