Expert wart removal in Colchester & Chelmsford. Warts are small, rough, viral growths. They are very common and can be spread by skin-to-skin contact or indirectly through contact with contaminated surfaces, such as swimming pool floors.
Although warts are spread virally, they can be very unsightly and, of course, unwanted, although apart from that, they do not usually cause any other symptoms in people with a normal functioning immune system. Warts can resolve themselves, but it can take a number of months or even years.
Common Warts
These are firm, raised growths, often with a rough, dry, crusty surface that resembles a small cauliflower or a solid blister. Common Warts can feature a pattern of tiny black dots, sometimes called seeds, which are small, clotted blood vessels.
Plane Warts
These are small, flesh coloured or pigmented blemishes, very slightly raised, often dry or crusty and appear on the chest area. Plane Warts are frequently found in children and are actually quite rare in adults.
Filiform Warts
These are long and slender and have what I describe as prongs, they really are very distinct, although often mistaken for skin tags.
I regularly remove Filiform Warts around the eye and mouth area and also the neck although they can be found elsewhere. They are a variant of the common wart with the same HPV strain.
Warts are very receptive to diathermy and cryotherapy so depending on the client and pain threshold, I will decide on consultation what method to use.
As with all my treatments, strict hygiene protocols are followed. Warts are viral, as mentioned, and extremely contagious.
More than one treatment is often required, so I will ask to see you again 4-6 weeks following the first treatment and continue until we have destroyed the wart.
Aftercare is key to follow with all treatments, and you will need to consider this prior to treatment, as if the wart/s are present on the hand, then this area needs to stay dry for up to 72 hours.
