Skin Tag removal is probably one of the most common treatments I do alongside Mole removal, wart removal and cyst removal.
The majority of the population have a skin tag or two in one place or another and they can even appear at a young age if there is particular friction to the skin or they are genetic.
There is no need to suffer with skin tags as I hear many clients say how they affect their confidence and how they can be uncomfortable when they catch them.
This gentleman came to see me not so long ago with a skin tag which was bothering him on his eye. He said that his grandchildren used to comment and ask what that it was and although he didn’t mind, he had just had enough of it and wanted it to be gone. The skin tag would also get fluff caught in it when lifting on and off jumpers so it was starting to be a nuisance!
We of course chatted through the procedure and ensured that medically he was OK to have the treatment done. For this skin particular skin tag, I used diathermy as my chosen method of treatment and decided the best way to deal with it was to dessicate it which is to dry it out. Sometimes with a skin tag, you can pull it away from the skin and slice through the ‘stalk’ cauterising as you go which is extremely quick and effective, however, this tag was on a very delicate area being the eyelid and it did not have a stalk as it almost laid flat on the skin.
So you can see my client’s journey below. The first picture is the skin tag before any treatment. We then treated using diathermy and 2 weeks later my client came back to me and the skin tag had in effect died and had turned black and then 6 weeks following the area was nicely healed. Now here there is still a small part of the skin tag left, sometimes this can happen so it could have been treated again so it was completely flat, however, my client was so happy with the results, that he didn’t want to do anything further.
