Filiform Warts or Skin Tags that is the question.
I can’t tell you how many times I have seen clients who come in with what they consider to be a skin tag or have been told by the doctor is one where indeed it is a filiform wart. Sometimes they look very similar, so this can be an easy mistake.
However look a little closer at the texture first and then the head as I like to call it and you will see individual prongs forming the top of the wart, in addition, it feels firmer and sometimes a little rough.
I see them mostly on the face or the neck of clients, however they can pop up anywhere, I have had one on a male client recently on his chest and one on a female client in between her breasts so really anywhere is possible.
Here is a wart I treated recently and this exact thing happened. This client had booked in for a tag removal and understandingly so as from this picture you may not see the little prongs and rough edges that give its real name away. In addition, it’s not often a client would know about these warts so even if a little different than a normal shall we say tag, who’s to say what it is?
