If you’ve never had advanced blemish removal before, walking into a consultation can feel a bit like the unknown. Here’s what happens when you come to see me, step by step.
Before you arrive
You’ll have booked online via my system or over the phone, which keeps everything simple. I’ll usually have a rough idea of what you’re coming in for, but please don’t worry about explaining it perfectly; we’ll discuss it on your first visit.
The chat first
Every consultation starts with a proper conversation. I want to understand what’s been bothering you, how long it’s been there, whether it’s changed, and what you’re hoping to achieve. No blemish is too small or too silly. Often it’s something you have been quietly worrying about for years, but didn’t necessarily think there was anything you could do about it, and that’s exactly why I do this work.
I’ll also ask about your medical history, any medications, and anything relevant to your skin’s healing. This isn’t a box-ticking exercise; it genuinely informs how I treat you, how you may react and how you may heal.
Looking at the skin
Then we look at the blemish itself. I’ll tell you what I think it is, whether it’s something I can treat, and, if not, what your next step should be. If it’s a mole or anything I’m concerned about, I won’t treat it without a GP or dermatologist looking at it and confirming it’s safe. That’s a firm rule, not a guideline.
For moles or blemishes you haven’t had checked, I can use my Map My Mole service. This is where I will send detailed images using a dermatoscope to a dermatologist, with a report back within around 72 hours.
The patch test
If we’re going ahead, I’ll usually carry out a small patch test. This is one of the most important parts of the whole process. It tells me how your skin responds to diathermy and how it heals, which helps me plan your treatment properly and safely. It’s a quick, tiny test, but the information it gives is invaluable.
The plan and the pricing
Before you leave, you’ll know what we’re treating, how many sessions it’s likely to take, what it costs, and roughly what to expect during healing.
What to bring, what to wear
I just say come as you are. However, if the blemish is on your face, please come makeup-free. If the blemish is somewhere covered, just wear something easy to move out of the way.
